Q: What is RentPlus?
A: RentPlus is a great service that helps residents build their credit by reporting only their on-time rent payments to all three major credit bureaus. Much like a mortgage, RentPlus can help residents establish a payment history. If you are late with a rental payment, we won’t report it so that your credit isn’t impacted negatively!

Payment history can make up to 35% of an individual’s credit score. The longer you are on the lease and having your payments reported the greater the impact they will have on your credit. Everyone’s credit and situations are different, so results vary but on average residents will see a 20-40 point increase over a 12-months lease.

There are many features included with RentPlus, such as:

Rent Reporting – we report your on-time rent payments to the credit bureaus to help you build your credit.

RentPlus Money – a budgeting tool that can link to multiple bank accounts to help you get on top of your finances.

RentPlus Spending – an expense tracking tool that will help you see where your money is going and possible areas you can cut back.

Text Reminders – schedule text message reminders of when rent and other expenses are due to help you stay on top of your bills.

Fraud Protection and Credit Monitoring – you can enroll in the real time credit monitoring service with a $1 million protection policy. This also includes ID theft insurance, as well as recovery and restoration services.
Q: What personal information does RentPlus store about its subscribers? What do they do with it?
A: Click here to request a full disclosure of your personal information that RentPlus has stored and why.
Q: Does RentPlus only report my rent?
A: While that is a big part of what RentPlus can do for you, your subscription also includes financial management tools, education tools and access to credit monitoring and identity theft protection and restoration!
Q: Where are my rent payments reported?
A: We report your rent payments to either Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion, or all three depending on the contract we have set up with your property management company.
Q: Does RentPlus cost money?
A: Yes. RentPlus does have a fee, usually added to your rent charges as a lease or amenity charge. The cost varies depending on your property management company. Feel free to reach out to them or RentPlus directly with your Name, Community, and Property Management Company and we can tell you what that cost would be for you.
Q: Why can’t I see any RentPlus reporting?
A: You will be able to see the months in which we have reported your payments in the “Reporting History” section once you log into your RentPlus Resident Portal. The green checkmarks indicate we have received your payment information from your community and reported that info to the credit bureaus. The orange triangles with an exclamation point indicate that we have not sent your info to the credit bureaus for that month. Generally, this is caused if you paid your rent late that month or had a charge, not necessarily your rent, carryover from the previous month.

If you have recently signed up for RentPlus, it can take up to 45 days to see your reporting appear on your score and in your RentPlus Resident Portal. This is due in the delay in receiving your information from your community and the reporting dates of the credit bureaus. Your back payments will be reported along with the first reporting.

Credit Reports
Users are not yet able to check their credit score in their RentPlus Resident Portal. You will need to use another source to check your credit. We suggest annualcreditreport.com as this is the official site, authorized by the federal government to access one free credit report per year. Once again, keep in mind it can take up to 45 days for your first reporting to show on your report.
Q: Will my past payment history be reported with RentPlus?
A: Yes! We will automatically back report any available history (up to 24 months) that is on your current lease. Your available back history will go out with our next reporting cycle, which happens right around the 15-20th of each month. Please note that we can only back report history that has been accumulated in the same unit you currently hold your lease in, if it was with the same property management company.
Q: When does RentPlus report my payments?
A: We report your payments for the previous month around the 15-20th of each month. This allows us to receive payment information from your community, determine the payment type, and report that information to the credit bureaus.
Q: How much will my credit score change?
A: While every case is different, our users see an average score increase of 20-40-points after being enrolled for a year!
Q: How can I pay my rent?
A: We don’t take or process your rent payments directly. You can pay your rent through your community’s resident portal or at your leasing office. But make sure they are on time so they will build your credit with RentPlus!

Don't count yourself out if you already have an established line(s) of credit either! In my case, it improved my already good standings and made it easier for me when it came time to finance a new car! RentPlus is simple and easy! I have since recommended it to several friends who are also renting, and will look forward to utilizing this awesome service for years to come!"

As someone who is working on building my credit so that I can purchase a home with the best possible interest rate I thought it was great that the amount I pay in rent would be reported to the credit bureaus. My rent is a substantial part of my expenses and having that amount reflected as an on-time payment each month just makes sense."
Tara O.
Norfolk, Virginia
This service has been invaluable to our family. We had just been through a foreclosure and our credit suffered greatly before we moved into our apartment. With this service, we have been able to raise our credit each month as we make our payments on time. We thought it would take years for our credit to improve, but we are in a much better place now than we were just a year ago."

My credit report was low because I didn't have much history or many cards, even though I'd never been late on a rent payment. Using RentPlus helped me show the world I was actually a qualified buyer. Thank you!"
